A powerful shift happens when a woman stands confidently in her own energy. She radiates, not just in appearance, but from an inner strength that shines through. I believe this journey of self-discovery starts with questioning: Are the things you do daily what you genuinely desire? Why do you believe the things you believe? Who benefits from the person you are right now? And most importantly, are you willing to let go of certain relationships or comforts to truly find yourself?
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that life, with all its evolutions, may very well be more about women than it is about men. This is why it’s crucial for women to tap into self-discovery, to dive within, and to take ownership of the journey of growth. There is nothing to lose, only strength to gain.
Doing the Self Work Now for a Softer Life Later
Self-care ebbs and flows, adapting to different stages of life. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” approach to this process. As we transition through life, the routines and practices we lean on will change to reflect our growth. My own journey started in my mid-twenties, when I began setting aside time to be alone. I made the choice to step back from social media and television, spending those hours on my own instead. For the first few years, I dedicated a space in my closet to meditation, reading, and reflection, grounding myself in solitude. This wasn’t glamorous, and it’s not something I’d say every woman needs to do. But in those years, I learned how to truly sit in my own company and to find strength there.
Later, I realized the true value of my energy and presence. This wasn’t something I was taught, but there came a moment of awareness—a deep sense that my energy held incredible worth. It took years to realize just how often people draw from you energetically without giving back, and that realization led me to assess the relationships in my life. Who truly adds value to my life? Self-care, at its core, is an evolution. It’s about knowing that your life is yours to shape and nourish.
Creating Community on Purpose
For me, this journey has meant learning to embrace the process of letting go, trusting myself, and moving forward on my own terms. I want to live purposefully, surrounded by like-minded women and girls who share a commitment to growth. For me, if the trade-off is a deep connection to my inner self and a community that aligns with that purpose, then it’s a trade I’m willing to make. I choose to bank on myself, to trust myself, and I have no regrets in living in alignment with my own values.
When we, as women, do the work to cultivate self-awareness and self-respect, we empower ourselves. We gain an advantage that goes beyond society’s programming and expectations. Embracing your energy and presence with clarity and purpose isn’t just an act of self-care—it’s an act of self-liberation. In tapping into that inner power, we lay a foundation for future generations of women and girls to do the same.
