Creative Flow Activated!

Lately, I've been deeply immersed in my creative flow, embracing a new challenge: operating with ease while still accomplishing the tasks I set for myself each day. Every morning, I start by setting my intentions—defining a clear purpose before I even begin. Although I’m still adjusting to this schedule and discovering my rhythm, I’m learning to trust myself more. I’ve noticed that once I start and focus kicks in, I’m able to achieve what I set out to do. Framing my goals as intentions has changed my perspective, allowing me to approach each day with clarity.

Before setting my schedule and writing out my to-do list, I now take a deliberate pause. This ensures that the tasks I plan are realistic and achievable.

What started as a simple routine has become something I genuinely look forward to every morning and afternoon. It’s a chance to track my progress, reflect on daily distractions, and identify areas for improvement. And, if I’m being honest, one of my biggest challenges has been managing distractions. I often feel restless when it’s time to start working. It’s an ongoing process, and I’m considering natural supplements to help me focus and get started each day.

I’ve also been embracing my unique work style, which isn’t exactly traditional. Instead of sitting at a desk, I find that I work best from my bed. There's something about lounging on my bed, fully dressed, coffee by my side, that sparks my creativity. Interestingly, I can work for hours in this space, feeling at my most productive when I’m relaxed and letting ideas flow naturally. While I do occasionally work at my living room table, after experimenting with different spaces, my bed remains my go-to. Life has a funny way of challenging everything I thought I knew, offering me new perspectives—whether it’s how I work, how I think, or what I desire and do.

Over the past three months, I’ve launched several businesses, fully tapping into my creative flow. I’ve reached a point where I no longer desire a traditional job. Instead, I want to create opportunities for others. Though my story is still unfolding and I’m unsure how everything will come together, the odds feel far better for me than any job could offer. I firmly believe that many Black women aren’t suited for the typical 9-to-5 work environment. Many of us just need to believe in ourselves and dare to pursue our dreams—taking one uncomfortable step at a time and finding a way to take mindful actions that align with our goals. We need another option. I want to be part of the solution of being the other option.

For me, finding purpose has been a journey. I’m grateful for the time of self-discovery, growth, and the deep sense of purpose I’ve found. I’ve realized that my purpose isn’t just about serving myself—it’s about serving the community. It’s more than just finding a product to sell or generating income for myself. Business, I’ve learned, can be a tricky space, often driven by greed and self-aggrandizement. But I need more than that. Yes, securing my future is important, but what about the future of other women and girls? I began asking myself how I could contribute—how I could be a force in creating spaces that support women and girls in the future. That shift in mindset was the turning point I needed, guiding me toward my own purpose and helping me elevate my thinking.
